In This lesson we will learn about

  • How to greet in Thai
  • What’s wâi?

The Thai greeting referred to as the wâi . As you might shake hands with a client, or wave to a neighbour, in Thailand the wai is the customary greeting.

To offer a deep, respectful “ wai ”, follow these 3 steps:

Place your hands together centered in front of your chest with fingertips pointing up toward the chin.

Bow your head forward until the index fingertips touch the tip of your  nose. Don’t maintain eye contact; look down.

Raise your head back up, smile, keeping hands together at chest level to finish the wai.
